Melissa + Hunter’s wedding at Ravenswood Mansion with our lovely photographer Josie is just plain wonderful!! We asked Melissa a few questions about their big day and this is what she has to say:
At what point did you feel most the joyful on your wedding day? WHEN IT DIDN’T RAIN! All week I had checked about 1 million weather
forecasts, always hoping for a more positive report. The day before the wedding, I decided to gamble and forego an extra tent, since it wouldn’t be able to come down if we got lucky with good weather. On the wedding day, it had been raining all morning, so I was a bit concerned. However, right before our first look, the rain stopped, and it remained clear throughout pictures. I was still worried that it might start again and push our ceremony from outside the house to under the tent. Like a miracle, though, the sun came out in full force just as my dad and I were about to walk down the aisle.
What was the most surprising thing about your wedding? The biggest surprise was when my dad, Ramsey, pulled out a stool and his 30+year-old banjo on stage for a surprise performance. He had written lyrics to an old bluegrass song (“Salty Dog Blues”) telling the story of my relationship with Hunter. The band chimed in and got the crowd clapping. It was such a special moment, one I’ll never forget.
What is the one moment from your wedding day that you want to remember 10 years from now? The train coming through during our outdoor ceremony and our sweet officiant making a joke about it!
Melissa + Hunter, your wedding blows us away with beauty!! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to be a part of your love story! All our Love. xoxo
